Netflix is currently home to the nation’s juiciest dating show, Love is Blind, a six-season powerhouse series that works to send singles into marriage after just 38 days of courtship. This initial meeting however is not done conventionally, hence the title of the show, the singles meet and get to know their partner without ever seeing them. This aims to test how much physical attraction plays a role in relationships and answer the show’s overarching question: is love really blind?
Netflix dropped the first episodes of the sixth and newest season, on Feb. 14, as a special premiere for Valentine’s Day. Viewers have been hooked since episode one and certainly felt love at first sight with the show. The first few episodes depict the experience of around fifteen individuals searching for love through pod dates. These pods are small rooms, each dressed with a large gray couch and a large wall in the middle, restricting the person from seeing the person they are dating on the other side. Every woman and man goes around introducing themselves and jotting down initial impressions of their partner on a notebook, which is given to them on day one of the experiment. This notebook is a constant in their time on the show, acting as a safe that holds rankings for who they may want to marry based strictly on conversational abilities.
The season 6 cast is a fun and interesting group. This season takes place in North Carolina, that also the hometown of each one of the singles. The show highlights that the chances they have seen the person on the other side of the wall at a local restaurant or park are high, and looks could have deterred them from speaking to one another originally. However, this show allows them to reconnect and highlights that maybe they were meant to be all along. While there are a lot of people on the show, Netflix only focuses on those with serious relationships. In this season, those couples are Jimmy and Chelsea, Amy and Johnny, Brittney and Kenneth, A.D. and Clay, and Laura and Jeramy. But, it is important to note that all of these people were set on each other from day one. people explore relationships with two people at once…those are Jimmy and Mackenize, Chelsea and Trevor, A.D. and Matthew, Jaremy and Sarah Ann.
I do not want to spoil this interesting season, but I truly recommend you watch it (you won’t regret it). So instead, I will offer some teasers that may spark your interest and get you to hit play. Chelsea tells Jimmy, the man behind her wall that she is dating, that she often gets told she looks like Megan Fox. While this is seemingly a breach of the rules as it gives away some of her physical attraction, fans claim they don’t look alike at all, and she only told Jimmy that so he would pick her to marry him. Also, in this jam-packed season, one of the women does not get chosen for marriage but sends a man she has been dating for a long time on the show, a DM, fully knowing he had a fiancée. This obviously causes quite a ruckus in their relationship. Love is Blind is truly interesting because one couple may seem to be perfect in every way… but are they too perfect to where it is fake?
Tune in to find out the answers to all the questions! You won’t regret it.
