Pizza: the most unparalleled meal that finds its place into everyone’s hearts and homes, whether for a cheap and quick dinner, or even at a wedding, it is the perfect bite for all tastes and occasions. Gold Tooth Tony’s is a great example of a take on the classic pizza combinations and how to turn them into a unique and flavorful delight. Located on Bellaire Boulevard, in the same space that formerly housed Pink’s Pizza, Gold Tooth Tony’s opened up on Aug. 30, 2024, and has been blessing the Bellaire and surrounding communities since with their delicious Detroit pizza.
Immediately upon walking through the doors into Gold Tooth Tony’s alongside senior Harper Scheinman, I felt immersed in the restaurant’s playful world.t. The vibrant L.E.D. lights sitting on the red brick wall bring a sense of excitement and liveliness. We were instantly greeted with a “Welcome!” and a smile from the man behind the counter. He helped us to curate the perfect order with his knowledge of the menu and impeccable taste in food.
We started our meal with General Tso’s chicken wings, which we both rated a 10/10. These wings were a divine mix of sweet and spicy, cooked to perfection with a crispy outside and juicy inside, topped with a mixture of spices.
Next, we tasted the garlic knots, which were a sweet bread with a golden outside and soft inside, topped with a garlic butter glaze, herbs, and parmesan. The first bite of these knots resembled a taste of heaven. They had just the right amount of garlic in every bite, which is crucial when crafting the perfect garlic knot to ensure the customer does not have to worry about garlic breath. These knots were served with a large tub of marinara, which was amazing because we were able to have giant scoops of the sauce with every bite without dwelling on running out. We rated these knots a 9/10, deducting two points for the extra oil residue and adding one point for the impeccable amount of marinara.
Finally, we moved onto our main and most important course, the pizzas. We ordered two pizzas: The Pizza Hunger Force and The Pizza Grizz. The Pizza Hunger Force is a cheese pizza, topped with meatballs and fresh whipped ricotta. This is the definition of a well made pizza. Despite the thickness and amount of toppings on the pie, it held its shape and had a crunchy crust on the outside layer. A bite of this pizza was eye-opening. The mix of the meaty flavor with the marinara, ricotta, and crispy crust make this pizza taste expensive and rich with flavor. The next pizza we tried, the Pizza Grizz, is topped with chicken, bacon, charred pineapple, grizzly sauce, house made ranch, and hot honey. This pizza was truly delicious and super unique, I’ve never tasted a pizza quite like it. The sweetness of the pineapple and honey paired with the meaty chicken and bacon flavor, along with the spiciness of the hot honey is incredible. This pizza is a flavor explosion in the best way possible!
While we were not able to try their dessert or taste everything available, I can confidently recommend this pizza spot to everyone to try with their friends and family. Finding a genuinely tasty and unique pizza is hard to come by, especially a Detroit-style pizza in Houston. It is important to always try new flavors, and this is the place to do it. I can assure you that anything and everything on the menu would be a great bite and a great time!
