Senior Directed is an annual Emery/Weiner theatre project where seniors step out of their usual acting roles to experience life in a director’s shoes, bringing a show of their choice to life. This year, the plays included “Hypnagogia” by Carol Luna Giorgi and Eliot Kelly-Leftwich, “Five Women Wearing the Same Dress” by Teagan Fingeret, and “21 Chump Street” by Natalie Fleishman, with technical direction by Toby Kimberly.

The senior directors have been deeply immersed in the production process, from writing scripts to running daily after-school rehearsals that often stretch from 4–9 p.m. Acknowledging the love and curiosity the Emery student body has for Senior Directed, I quietly captured the behind-the-scenes work that goes into creating a show. I interviewed the directors about their journeys –from casting students to coordinating with the tech crew– along with the excitement building toward this weekend’s highly anticipated performances. Sitting into the process of directing a show was nothing short of fascinating– and this video captures it all.
